Utilization of batteries, car tyres and car batteries

Power batteries, car tyres and car batteries, lubricant oils and oil filters contain substances harmful to people and the living nature. Negligent handling of these waste items causes damage both to the environment and human health.

What should I do with waste power batteries, car tyres, car batteries, etc.? 

Latvijas Zaļais punkts in cooperation with regional waste management companies has developed a network of collection sites for waste goods harmful to the environment (WGHE) without damaging the environment:

• Power batteries – put them into the designated bins that may be found in the largest shops, fuel stations and schools;
• Car batteries – drop them off at the collection sites for waste goods harmful to the environment (please see the waste separate collection site map);
• Car tyres, oils and oil filters – use the assistance of professional service stations that take part in the management of waste harmful to the environment and are informed on the utilization of these items.

Did you know...

Every year 15 000 tons of car tyres, 245 000 tons of lubricant oil and oil filters and several tons or power batteries and car batteries are imported into Latvia.
